Construction begins on Kids Common and Gathering Gallery!

Farewell to the Families and City Galleries

It’s been 14 years and 265,000 visitors since we opened Guelph Civic Museum in the former Loretto Convent. Over that time, we’ve had lots of learning, fun, and wear-and-tear! So, we’re excited to announce that we’re building two new spaces to replace the Families Gallery and the City Gallery.

Hello to Kids Common and Gathering Gallery

Kids Common will be a new family-centred, hands-on space where our youngest visitors are encouraged to explore, learn and dream; to share their stories and hear stories from others; to play, have fun, and grow.

Gathering Gallery will be an interactive exhibition tracing Guelph’s story from time immemorial to present day through engaging experiences for visitors of all ages. It will be a space for shared perspectives, thoughtful contemplation, and community conversations.

Watch for announcements about the opening of our new exhibitions this autumn.

In the meantime, the Civic Museum remains open through construction with a new feature exhibition, Maawnjidyang Maa : We Come Together Here, and pop-up programming over the next several months.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the museum – and to new spaces and experiences – soon!
