Folk duo to play free Fourth Friday concert at Guelph Civic Museum

GUELPH, ON, July 25, 2017: Canadian folk musician Ian Bell will perform at Guelph Civic Museum Friday, July 28 as part of the museum’s Fourth Friday Oh Canada concert series. Bell will be accompanied by talented multi-instrumentalist Tom Leighton.

Since the late 1970s, Bell has performed across North America both on his own and with many ensembles. He has appeared at numerous folk festivals and in concerts and dances in venues ranging from Roy Thompson Hall to Randy Haskell’s barn. A musician with a Celtic flare, Bell’s repertoire includes traditional Canadian music and many original compositions.

Leighton plays a wide assortment of instruments, including piano, accordion, accordion bass, bouzouki, bodhran, whistles, jaw harps, mandolin and trombone. He performs regularly with Anne Lederman, Conrad Kipping, Danny Bakan, and in a duo with Mark Haines.

Bell and Leighton will perform their popular “Confederation Generation” show with music and stories circa 1867.

Admission to the Museum is free after 5 PM on Fourth Fridays.  The concert begins at 7 PM.
