Five Days of Fun – March Break Play Dates at Guelph Civic Museum

GUELPH, ON, March 4, 2013- The Guelph Civic Museum will be open extended hours from Monday March 11 to Friday March 15 for March Break Play Dates.    From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm we will play all day – every day, with new daily activities and special guests or workshops at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.  “We have got lots of fun activities planned for the week sure to please visitors of all ages,” says Val Harrison, Coordinator of Public Programs. “Museum staff and volunteers are ready for five days of fun!” 

Monday March 11Games We Play. Experience board games, classic toys, puzzles and a few new surprises. At 11:00 am and 2:00 pm we’ll be playing a couple rounds of the ultimate classic game- BINGO! Get your markers and lucky hat and hopefully win a prize.

Tuesday March 12Playing with pARTS and Pieces. Construct, craft and perform all day. At 11:00 am and 2:00 pm special guest Scott McGovern will give a juggling demonstration and workshop. Come early so you have time to make your own personal juggling balls before you get ready for the stage. 

Wednesday March 13 — Roll Playing is inspired by the current exhibit kNOw Skateboarding : Years of Skateboarding and Skateboard Culture.  Explore games that involve rolling, sliding, ramps and some patience. Have fun with a rock and rings curling game and help construct an indoor mini-putt course. Design your own skateboard graphic at 11 am and design a fingerboard skate park at 2 pm with Matthew Hepburn.

Thursday March 14Green Play Day. Put on your green and hunt for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. At 11:00 am there is super secret meeting so that everyone can do a super secret spontaneous spectacle at 11:30 am all over the museum. At 2:00 pm enjoy the Celtic Academy Canada’s dance demonstration and open workshop.

Friday March 15Playing with our Imagination. Using cardboard, newsprint and bits and bobs, collaborate and create a fantastical new world. Building starts at 10:00 am and ends at 4:30 pm.  Also, we are joined by special guest artist Lisa Du Fresne at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to create Birds of Paradise with recyclables.
