Canada Day: A Day of Reflection, Connection, and Community

July 1 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

We recognize that people mark Canada Day in different ways, and we invite you to spend it at the Civic Museum in community, contemplation, and creativity.

Begin your day with a Guided Meditation with Alpa Acharya at 10:00 a.m. This 45-minute session – held outdoors on our patio, weather permitting – starts with gentle stretching and breathing exercises, followed by a meditation designed to cultivate unconditional love and a deep sense of interconnectedness. Together, we’ll explore our infinite consciousness and our relationship with the universe. Feel free to bring a yoga mat. No sign-up necessary.

At 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., join Circle of Sound: A Drop-In Interactive Experience with Gary Diggins. In this engaging session, Diggins will introduce world instruments and musical practices that foster connection and collaboration. Drum, chant, and celebrate in a communal circle of sound—no experience necessary, just a willingness to listen, play, and be present.

While at the Museum, explore our exhibitions, including Art As We Are: Creative Community Care, Darkness and Light: Inside the Ontario Reformatory, Where the Rivers Meet, and The Families Gallery

Whether you’re seeking quiet reflection or joyful connection, the Civic Museum offers a welcoming space to mark Canada Day in a way that resonates with you.

Admission by donation

Important Note: There is currently construction on Cork Street between Norfolk Street and Dublin Street North. Access to the Civic Museum from the top of the hill (Cork and Dublin) is available and will be maintained.
