“Guelph Little Theatre takes 7 drama awards”

Guelph Little Theatre’s production of Brighton Beach Memoirs collected seven awards at the West Ontario Drama League Festival. Categories won include best director donors, best supporting actor and actress, and a special judge’s award. Dennis Johnson, director of GLT, explained that “[they] took a gamble with the play”because they staged the play differently and cast younger actors.
Brighton Beach Memoirs was a play based on the story of a Jewish family and their everyday struggles in 1937. One of the festival adjudicators, Ron Cameron claimed that the play was almost “flawless.” He praised the actors, the directors, and the play.
