Splash into 2017 with new exhibitions at Guelph Civic Museum

GUELPH, January 17, 2017: Celebrate the launch of Guelph Museums’ new exhibitions with free admission and a free concert Friday, January 27 at the Civic Museum. Ojibway storyteller Aaron Bell will perform the first in a series of Oh Canada Fourth Fridays concerts to mark the opening of A Ripple Effect: Canadians and Fresh Water, and Wall of Art: From Coast to Coast to Coast.

Aaron Bell is an Ojibway storyteller, and shares his gift in a unique way to engage, educate, and entertain his audiences. Through spoken word, drama and humour, Bell’s presentations demonstrate his natural ability to perform the true art form of First Nations Storytelling.

Presented in partnership with Museum London and Canadian Heritage, A Ripple Effect: Canadians and Fresh Water examines Canadians’ relationship with fresh water by focusing on the Thames, Speed, and Eramosa rivers. Organized under the themes of work and play, the exhibition explores the ways in which we have used fresh water for domestic and industrial pursuits.

As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation we reflect on this vast country we call home. Wall of Art: From Coast to Coast to Coast is a series of artworks by local artists that explore the concept of Canada in creative and innovative ways.

Opening remarks are set for 6:30 PM, and will be followed by the storytelling performance at 7 PM.

Guelph Civic Museum is located at 52 Norfolk Street. Admission on Fourth Fridays is free from 5 to 9 PM.
