Civic Museum

Situated in the heart of Downtown Guelph, the historic 1850s building, atop the hill at Norfolk Street and beside the landmark Basilica of Our Lady, is home to a collection of over 40,000 artifacts that illustrate the rich history of Guelph.

Entire Museum

When you rent the entire museum for your cocktail reception, corporate event, or family fun day, you have access to our programming room, meeting room, exhibition galleries, and patio – three floors of inspiring spaces to explore, gather, and connect.

Capacity:

  • 150 people – Museum interior
  • 205 people – Museum interior and exterior patio

Rental Fees:

  • $510 after hours + HST

Registered Not-For-Profit Fees:

  • $310 after hours + HST

Meeting room

Capacity:

  • 10 people – seated
  • 26’ x 16’

  • $36.00 per hour + HST
  • $210.00 per day or after hours + HST

McCrae House Coach House

McCrae House National Historic Site is the birthplace of Lt. Col. John McCrae, doctor, soldier and author of “In Flanders Fields.” A recently renovated coach house and charming grounds and gardens provide a quaint space for small meetings and events.

For all rental spaces:

  • Fees include available tables and chairs and access to AV equipment
  • Non-profit rates are available
  • Additional liability insurance and security staffing fees may apply

Rental policies:

  • Rental events that include activities regularly presented by the Museum, including but not limited to exhibitions, lectures, and film screenings, must be approved by the Curator, Museums and Culture and must be aligned with the Museum’s commitment to provide content which is accurate, objective, and accessible.
  • Rental customers and their users must maintain and uphold the values identified in the City’s Community Plan and Strategic Plan and the Guelph Museums and Culture Strategic Operating Plan
  • The City will not approve requests to rent or book facilities for individuals or organization groups that promote hatred, violence, racism, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Use of facilities adheres to the principle of public access and provides a safe and welcoming environment for all while ensuring event participants, patrons and city assets are safeguarded.
  • The applicant shall be responsible for the conduct and supervision of those affiliated with the group.
  • Any user not in compliance with provincial or federal legislation or any City of Guelph policies or bylaws will forfeit their rental time.
  • All City facilities are designated smoke free facilities. This refers to ALL tobacco and smoking products, including smokeless tobacco, electronic cigarettes, cannabis and chewing tobacco.
  • Alcoholic beverages and illicit drugs are NOT permitted in any City Facility without the appropriate permits. Groups not complying will forfeit their rental times and the time will be re-allocated.
  • All facilities shall be left in an acceptable condition or extra charges for damage or excessive clean-up shall be charged to the permit holder. Permit holders will be notified of additional charges.
