Guelph Museums takes to the sky to open annual Military Lecture series

GUELPH, ON, September 16, 2019: Guelph Museums and Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies have announced the first speakers for the 2019-2020 Military Lecture Series at Guelph Civic Museum.

The series begins Thursday, September 19 with “Cavalry of the Air” and “Deadly Skies“, presented by two speakers, Norman S. Leach and Ross C Morton. Leach will speak about his book “Cavalry of the Air: An Illustrated Introduction to the Aircraft and Aces of the First World War”. Morton will discuss his training and experiences as a Wireless Air Gunner during the Second World War.

October 17, Kandace Bogaert presents, “The Aftermath of the 1918 Influenza Pandemic Among Ontario’s Soldiers’ Families.

November 21, Geoff Hayes presents, “Crerar’s Lieutenants: Inventing the Canadian Army Officer Corps, 1939-1945.”

The series continues in January 2020.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with lectures beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission by donation.

Guelph Civic Museum is located at 52 Norfolk, Guelph.
