Are you ready to dance? This November we’re thrilled to welcome Transstar to perform her self-described “twisted-pop music” for Fourth Friday! Transstar is an electronic musician currently based out of Guelph, ON.

Every Fourth Friday of the month enjoy free admission to the Civic Museum from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a free concert starting at 7 p.m.

The concert will also be streamed on our Facebook Page, and available for a limited time afterwards on our YouTube channel and Museum Everywhere portal. 

Due to high demand for seating, please arrive at the Museum and take your seat by 6:50 pm. Seats not claimed by this time may be re-assigned to rush line visitors.

Please let us know in advance if you can no longer attend so we can release the ticket to others wishing to attend.

About Transstar:

Transstar has been making electronic pop since forever. CBC Radio’s Brave New Waves played her cassette demos on-air in the 1980s. Transstar signed a publishing deal with EMI Canada in 1991 and released an ambient electronic CD, Score For Life in 1997. In 2014, Transstar relocated in Berlin to create the Cover Girl project. In 2015 Transstar launched Blackball, a non-profit organization that teaches electronic music to prison inmates and young people in underserved communities.

Transstar collaborates with Pros and Cons, a song mentorship program for incarcerated individuals created by Hugh Christopher Brown, Transstar established a dedicated music production space at Grand Valley Institution For Women and produced two albums recorded inside the institution, Undisclosed Location and its follow-up, Private Town. Transstar has appeared at The Golden Bus, Holy Smokes Fest, the Queeries Music + Arts Festival, Girls’ Rock Camp, the Wolfe Island Garden Party and Waterloo Creates. Transstar’s Toronto pre-pandemic debut took place at Lee’s Palace on March 7, 2020, opening for Chalk Circle at the Rethink Breast Cancer benefit.

Transstar’s EP Famous Door was mixed by Michael Phillip Wojewoda for Park Music. Famous Door enjoyed its national debut on CBC Radio q in January of 2020 and is available on all aggregators. Transstar’s alter ago, mild-mannered Aimee Copping, is taking her Master’s degree in Critical Studies In Improvisation at the University of Guelph. Transstar’s second Park Music album, Untraceable scheduled for release on 31 March 2022, Transgender Day of Visibility.
