Fourth Friday: Transstar

January 24 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Fourth Fridays burst with a celebration of music, history, creativity and community connection. Each month, enjoy free admission to the Civic Museum from 5–9 pm, with live performances starting at 7 pm.

In January, we feature the electrifying sounds of Transstar. Known for her unique blend of original electronic pop and reimagined covers, Transstar promises an evening of music that will captivate and inspire.

Transstar has made waves not only with her music but also with her impactful local community work. She is the creator of Blackball, a nonprofit arts education program that provides free electronic music training and tools to underserved youth, empowering the next generation of creators. In partnership with the Pros and Cons project, Transstar also collaborated with incarcerated women at the Grand Valley Institution, building a recording studio within its walls and producing two remarkable albums of original music written and performed by imprisoned individuals.

Her work with incarcerated women aligns with themes explored in Darkness and Light: Inside the Ontario Reformatory, an exhibition concurrently running at the Civic Museum.
