Backyard Theatre returns to McCrae House

GUELPH, ON, June 26, 2019: McCrae House Backyard Theatre returns for another summer with What I Gave, I Have. The performances open Saturday, July 6 and run Wednesdays through Saturdays until July 20 at 7 p.m. in the backyard of McCrae House. There will be Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. on July 13 and 20.

What I Gave, I Have dramatizes the life of Guelph-born poet, soldier and doctor Lt.-Col. John McCrae, who wrote the famous First World War poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. This original work by local playwright Catherine Frid is directed by Valerie Senyk, and features Bryndyn Boonstra, who will portray John McCrae among other characters.

“I thought I knew a lot about John McCrae”, says playwright Catherine Frid “but new research led me to appreciate even more the complexity and depth of this remarkable man. I was drawn to the power and simplicity of a one-man show, with one actor playing John McCrae and other characters important to his story.”

Tickets are $20 +HST and are available at guelphmuseums.wpengine.com.

McCrae House is located at 108 Water Street.
