SUMMARY:Fourth Friday: The Dufferin Groove
DESCRIPTION:Close your eyes and you might just imagine you’re in New Orleans on a hot summer night! \nThe Dufferin Groove bring their cool\, cozy\, and cheerful Trad Jazz vibe to the Civic Museum patio\, reviving music from the 1920s and 30s by greats like Louis Armstrong\, Jelly Roll Morton\, and Joe “King” Oliver. \nGather your favourite people\, grab a cool drink\, and settle in for an evening of timeless tunes. \nAdmission by donation starts at 5 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. Cash bar available. \nAbout the Artists\nLaurent Humeau (trumpet\, clarinet\, soprano\, vocals)\, Jared Higgins (tenor banjo)\, and Ashleigh Rose (tuba) \nLaurent Humeau (France) started playing guitar at an early age with his father\, fell in love with the music of New Orleans\, and taught himself soprano saxophone\, clarinet\, and trumpet. His love for performing the music of the greats\, like Louis Armstrong\, Johnny Dodds\, Django Reinhardt\, and Sydney Bechet\, has taken him around the world. He leads multiple projects in Canada and Europe including the Jungle Jazz Band\, and is delighted to be returning to the Guelph Civic Museum. \nAshleigh Rose (Canada)\, is a classically trained pianist and saxophonist and grand-daughter of the founder of the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra. She transitioned to tuba and sousaphone within the fanfare culture of southern Europe and later the brass band culture of Berlin\, Germany. She has played with the Titubanda (Rome)\, Salsa Azul (Berlin) the Berlin Brass Caravan (Berlin)\, Marching Disorder (Toronto)\, and The Happy Pals (Toronto). \nJared Higgins (Canada) is a Toronto local who has been playing professionally in the scene since graduating Humber College in 2016. Since then\, he has become ubiquitous in the Toronto swing music scene\, playing with acts like Trombone Charlotte\, The Tap Room Gang\, Tak Arikushi\, The Happy Pals\, and more.

DESCRIPTION:A breath of fresh air on a summer night! Join us for the final Fourth Friday of the summer as rising star Nora Joy brings her youthful energy and sweet melodies to the Civic Museum patio. \nAdmission by donation starts at 5 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. Cash bar available. \nAbout the artist\nNora Joy is a 16-year-old independent singer-songwriter from Stratford\, Ontario\, whose music carries a rare mix of honesty\, warmth and youthful perspective. \nSince beginning songwriting at 11\, Nora has developed a style that blends pop and folk with heartfelt lyrics that reflect the experiences of growing up. \nIn 2024\, Nora was selected as an Ontario Youth Discoveries Competition winner\, earning the privilege of performing at the Summerfolk Festival\, where her performance was highlighted in press coverage as one of the festival’s standouts. \nThat same year\, Nora was personally invited by Canadian icon Ron Sexsmith to join him on stage at his Sexsmith at Sixty concert. She later travelled to London\, UK\, to record backing vocals for Sexsmith’s 2025 album\, Hangover Terrace. \nNora opened for Sexsmith at his 2025 Ontario shows and his 2026 shows in the UK and Ireland.  Sexsmith says\, “at just age 16\, Nora Joy is writing songs that are wonderfully melodic and well-structured with lyrics that are thoughtful and wise beyond her years.” \nNora’s self-titled debut album was released on February 13\, 2026.
