In the Footsteps of John Galt

April 27, 2019 - May 5, 2019

Sepia illustration of John Galt on the left. He is a young man with dark hair and thin wire glasses. He is wearing a high collared shirt and dark overcoat. To the right of the illustration, green text reads In the Footsteps of John Galt. There are five footprints across both photos with snapshots of Scotland scenery.

May 2, 2019 will mark the 240th birthday of John Galt – the Scottish novelist, entrepreneur, political and social commentator, and Canada Company superintendent who founded Guelph and Goderich, Ontario in 1827. Guelph Museums, in partnership with Frederick Travel, will lead a commemorative tour in Scotland next spring to explore Galt’s homeland, discover his influences and accomplishments, and honour his birthdate at the Galt Festival in Ayrshire.

Canadian musicians Mike Ford and Murray Foster will join the tour, premiering their original musical theatre production, John Galt: An Instant City.

The trip departs Canada April 27, 2019 and returns May 5, 2019.

To register, contact Scott Allen at Frederick Travel, [email protected], 519-745-1860 extension 303, or 1-800-578-8958.
