About Static Channel

Static Channel marries instrumental electronic music with sound-responsive abstract visuals. Created by two unmarried lovers, Monika Hauck and Alex Ricci, Static Channel’s momentous and vivid video comfortably cohabitates with their lush and crescendoing compositions. The offspring of Guelph audiovisual collective VERSA, the new group turns towards digital sampling and generative techniques to create more reflective and ambient pieces. Improvisation also plays a role in the duo’s artistic communication as they spontaneously compose and visualize unique elements of each performance.

As VERSA, the duo performed at Hillside Festival (Guelph ON), Flourish Festival (Fredericton NB), Electric Eclectics (Meaford ON), Nuit Blanche (Toronto and Ottawa ON) and Y2K Live Looping Festival (Mexico City MX). They have created live visuals for musical artists such as The Sorority, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Deerhoof, Absolutely Free and US Girls.

Static Channel’s first album, Levadas, will be released June 2021.
