Using our Online Collections Database

Guelph Museums Logo. Navy blue text reads Your Stories Live here.

Did you know that our collections can be viewed online? Our Online Collections Database is available at any time right from home! It just takes 4 clicks to get to the online database from our homepage, and then you’ll be ready to search away.

Online Database - How to Search. 1. Visit guelphmuseums.ca 2. Click on Collections & Research, 3. Click on Collections, 4. Click on Search our collection.

Here are some additional helpful hints to remember when searching:

  1. Try to use specific words or phrases to keep your search results manageable. Using generic words like red or Guelph will bring you thousands of results and make the search unwieldy.
  2. When searching a phrase or name under ‘keyword’, put the phrase in quotations (e.g. “John Smith”). This will narrow your search to those words together rather than search for every reference to both John and Smith separately;
  3. If you’re looking for an image, be sure to check off “Items with Images Only” under the search bar;
  4. If you’re using the ‘Advanced Search’ option, some internet browsers do not show the detailed search boxes. If possible, try to use browsers such as Google Chrome, and ensure that they are updated.

Happy searching!
