Remembrance Week at McCrae House

GUELPH, ON, October 27, 2016: Remembrance traditions continue at McCrae House, the birthplace of Guelph-born doctor, soldier and poet John McCrae. Guelph Museums will commemorate Remembrance Day this year with activities leading up to November 11.

Sunday, November 6, Thank a Veteran event will be held at McCrae House. Visitors will have an opportunity to chat with local veterans and thank them for their service. The event is set to run from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

The Guelph Amateur Radio Club returns for another year and will be sending and receiving remembrance messages at the birthplace of John McCrae from Tuesday, November 8 to Friday, November 11, daily 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

On Friday, November 11, the Royal Canadian Legion, Colonel John McCrae Memorial Branch 234, will present a Remembrance Day service at McCrae Memorial Gardens, adjacent to McCrae House, starting at 9:00 am. At 10:30 am, the students of John McCrae Public School will follow with a Remembrance Day assembly.

General admission to McCrae House is $5.00 with combined admission to the Guelph Civic Museum.

Admission is by donation on Remembrance Day, November 11.

McCrae House is located at 108 Water Street. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
