Call to Artists: Wall of Art – Standing Guard

Wall of Art: Standing Guard

Deadline: August 28, 2017

The Guelph Civic Museum, Guelph Arts Council and the City of Guelph are pleased to present the “Wall of Art” juried exhibition series, featuring excellent artists from Guelph Arts Council’s membership. This exciting series aims to showcase the breadth of local talent that we have here in Guelph as well as provide artists with a unique opportunity to share their work with a larger audience.

For the upcoming exhibition, we invite artists to explore the theme of Standing Guard. As a nation, we watch over and celebrate our collective history and the country we have built together. What does Standing Guard mean to you? We can’t wait to see what our local artists have in store for Standing Guard.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to artists living and practicing in Guelph, as well as members of the Guelph Arts Council*, who produce two-dimensional work in any medium, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and fiber. A maximum of two original artworks may be submitted by each artist: submissions exceeding two works will not be considered. Works for this call must address the theme. All works must be ready for hanging, not be excessively heavy, and must be able to fit through an entrance of 6.5 ft. by 4 ft. Any technical needs for works must be provided by the artist.

*An artist membership for a year is only $30 (which is less than most entry fees). Membership is not juried; everyone is welcome. Plus, you get all the other benefits that come with being a Guelph Arts Council member… come join us and see!

Selected artists will receive an exhibition fee of $139 CAD and an invitation to an exhibition reception at the museum on April 28, 2017, 6:30 p.m. No need to email your application with attachments. Instead, please submit online through our handy form! Or, download or pick up a paper form from our office.
